I'm just laying out the facts. Let me know what you think... and I'll follow up later with my personal synopsis.
In private enterprise, there is never a question as to the "proper" wages or salaries. They will be in the range of sustainability for the business to maintain operations.
ReplyDeleteToo low and competitors can bid the labor away.
"Hey, you do good work, I'll pay you $1.00 more per hour to come work for me."
Too high and the firm goes out of business due to high labor costs.
Yeah MC Hammer paid everyone 6 figures to stand around but look what happened...
Any price, (wages are the price of labor) are simply indicators to the owner as to how best allocate resources. Period.
However, because government run operations never need to consider a profit/loss statement, and all financing is through coercion, "prices" and their role as indicators, do not exist.
Therefore, are teachers paid enough? Too much? Too little? Who knows. Socialized institutions (and that is exactly what public schools are) have NO MECHANISM to arrive at the proper wage rate even if they had the incentive to do so.
This is the fundamental error in the system of socialism which is why it always fails.
